About Us.
The Starnes Group was established in Kent in the early 1990’s with the aim of securing property development opportunities following the downturn in the late 1980’s. For the last 30 years or so, we have undertaken scores of projects in both commercial and residential sectors, in most parts of the UK.
We are a small team of Chartered Surveyors and Accountants, and its this in house expertise which allows us to identify, develop and where applicable maintain and manage property assets all in house. A small team can act quickly and decisively. Speed has been, and is, a key driver in the company achieving success.
The backbone of all property companies is the strength of their bank support. Starnes enjoys privileged relationships with a number of mainstream lenders, who have supported the group, since its inception and are keen to continue doing so. A track record counts.
We are primarily commercial developers but we have obtained planning consent for complex residential sites ranging from a single to 300+ units. In some cases we have developed the housing ourselves. We are not though volume house builders and have no aspirations in that regard. Our focus is the residential ‘bespoke’ sector where we believe we can establish premium value.

We have a particular interest in the historic environment and have renovated a wide range of protected buildings, from Ancient Monuments to Grade I & II Listed structures. Whilst costs can be uncertain, uniqueness often leads to unrivalled values.
During the last 5 years or so we have deliberately expanded our commercial investment property portfolio and now have a range of predominately office, warehouse, and light industrial buildings. The benefit of income generation from the portfolio dovetails well with the more speculative nature and the unpredictable cost demands of the development sector.
Starnes is well funded and remains keen to source more opportunities, in both the commercial and residential sectors. With in house expertise and swift decision making we are confident that the outlook is bright.
